Just bring yourself. No experience required.

We can all use a moment or two to relax, unwind and forget about our daily stresses, and that's why I've created this Beginner's Fluid Art workshop. So why not take some time-out for yourself and discover the most addicting, relaxing, and fascinatingly beautiful act of Acrylic Pouring or "Fluid Art".

This Private 1-on-1 TWO DAY workshop is a fun and introductory lesson on everything you need to create and take home Three (3) of your very own one-of-a-kind colorful abstract masterpieces. (Trust me, it's hard to do just one and walk away.) In this workshop you and I will cover prep, materials, various techniques, color use, proper mixing of mediums including how to finish and seal your piece with Matt Varnish or High Gloss Epoxy topcoat once it's cured/dry.  You will choose your desired color palettes and you will control the movement of the fluid paints to create 3 truly one-of-a-kind Zen like art pieces ready to hang on your home or office wall. These will also make great personal art gifts for your favorite Abstract Art Lover.

**Bring a friend or family member for their own discounted rate, and create your custom fluid paintings side by side, share this addicting form of art and get lost in the abstract designs together.

DAY 1: (2 hours)

After a quick demonstration, you will take over (I will be right there to guide you along) and practice/experiment with popular Fluid Art Techniques on Practice 8" x 8"  Flat Canvas Boards. Heck, you may even discover your own signature technique, the possibilities are literally endless.

Once you're feeling confident blending and layering the paints and colors, you will then move to creating your 3 Official Fluid Art Paintings on Three (3) 8" x 8" Cradled Wood Panels with your chosen technique(s). Each of your 3 Paintings can showcase your most favorite technique, or all separate techniques or you can combine all techniques in each so let your creativity soar, this is what this class was made for!

After you've completed your 3 Fluid Paintings and are satisfied with your Masterpieces, we then let them dry for 48 Hours and then resume back in the studio at your convenience for DAY 2 of the Workshop to seal and finish your work with Epoxy Resin.

DAY 2: (1 hour)  Scheduled at your convenience during the first class.

The Fluid Art paintings will now be dry and ready for the next step, which is pouring the epoxy topcoat. I will show you how to correctly prepare and mix your epoxy before pouring it on. Here comes the blowtorch! This is literally the best step, albeit a delicate process, but fun to do. After the epoxy pour top coat, we then leave the studio for the day to let your painting cure uninterrupted. Please Note: Your epoxy topcoat will have to cure in the studio for 48 hours. After which, your paintings will then be ready for pickup at your convenience.

----------------------------------------------------------

All materials included. Canned Non alcoholic refreshments, sodas, bottled water, and sealed bags of chips and cookies will be provided for each day and/or you're welcome to bring your own!

I will provide practice boards, canvases, wood panels, paints, gloves, cups, aprons, pouring medium, stir sticks, border tape, and blow torch (yes, there's a blow torch!), etc. for each Artist to make 3 FINISHED Fluid Paintings to take home. You will also get a printed materials and prep list so you can create more fluid art pieces in the comfort of your home or studio after you've learned the basics with me!

So get ready for a totally relaxing art vibe with the goal of encouraging a creative and imaginative experience. Although aprons and gloves will be provided, please consider clothing you don't mind getting a little acrylic paint on. Even though it's completely washable, Fluid Art can be a bit messy ( and oh so liberating ) depending on technique, application and Artist.

A little about paint pouring: If you are not familiar with fluid painting or paint pouring, it is a technique used with acrylic paints combined with a flow medium that when mixed with other colors creates unique and really amazing abstract color pop effects. Depending on the colors you pick and the technique you use, you can get a wide variety of gorgeous layered effects within an incredible piece of abstract fluid art that will amaze you, your friends, and family. Plus it is a very relaxing, therapeutic and healing form of art that is great for everyone!

Things to consider when deciding whether to use Varnish or Epoxy Top Coat.

  • Varnish Pros: It's an easy application and dries within minutes. If using Matte Varnish, it provides a soft but vibrant finish. Gloss Varnish provides a little shine to your piece, for a more "wet look". Although you never want to hang any artwork in direct sunlight, a varnished painting can be hung without as much consideration as with a painting with Epoxy. Varnish provides a protective durable finish that will last for years without worrying where it's safe to hang.
  • Varnish Cons: None for this project. It's all about visual preference. However, if you prefer the hard candy shell look and feel, you'll want to go with Epoxy.
  • Epoxy Pros: Provides a sleek clear hard protective shell to your painting and colors almost seem to pop off the canvas in a 3D manner. Very eye grabbing. Richer Colors and more saturated in appearance than with Varnish. Metallic Paints really sparkle. Fun process to apply to your paintings.
  • Epoxy Cons: Easy and fun application, but takes more patience and time. Resin does not like UV Rays of any sort, so you can not hang your painting near or in direct Sunlight or UV Lighting as it will tend to yellow over the years if done so.

I look forward to seeing you and creating together with you! Any questions, please don't hesitate to          Message me before ordering.

**Per Social Distancing Guidelines: I do request you wear a mask during this workshop. If you don't have one, I will provide you one at no cost.
