"Giclee" is a French word meaning,
" a spraying of ink"
(pronounced "zhee-clay").
Creating a Giclee print requires the utmost care and attention on the part of the printer. To start the process, the original painting is photographed by a Professional Photographer and developed into a 4" x 5" transparency.
The transparency is then taken to a Fine Art Printing Company.
( I use Staples Fine Art in Richmond, Va.)
where it is scanned into their computer, then relays the image to an inkjet printer. The printer produces the image by delivering a fine spray of ink, up to a
million micro droplets per second.
Each droplet is four times smaller than a human hair.
The finished print will portray the finest detail and vibrancy of the artist's original
( 512 color value possibilities ), and is then ready for custom matting and framing.
If kept under glass/acrylic ( recommended ), your Giclee print will last for a lifetime never fading or losing it's vibrancy.
( Guaranteed for up to 100+ years )
